Florikan has partnered with the A. Worley Brown Boys & Girls Club in Norcross, Georgia to provide controlled release fertilizer to help them grow their community garden.

Their garden is currently growing Tomatoes, Squash, Eggplant, Okra, Lettuce, and Blueberries. The garden serves nearly 100 participants of the club and will grow as restrictions ease and more members return.

Giovanni Sturgis, the Executive Director shared the goals of the garden project for his Chapter of the Boys & Girls Club:

“This is so important because our members are learning how to grow their own food and we are also looking to incorporate parent healthy cooking classes as well host mini-farm stands to generate funds for our program and trips.”

This would not have been possible without the effort of Ed Mehrman, a friend of our founder, Ed Rosenthal, the local underwriter Georgia Furniture Mart as well as our distributor partner Howard Fertilizer.

Mr. Mehrman and Mr. Rosenthal are both tireless advocates for locally-based agriculture and for the education of sustainable agricultural practices to all. It shows in this further quote from Mr. Sturgis:

“My passion for Agriculture is growing more and more each day

and I know the kids feel the same way.”

Everyone at Florikan is eager to see this project continue to grow, and we fully reciprocate Mr. Sturgis’s closing words:

“I look forward to connecting and continuing to build this partnership. I really think we can make this a world-class program and take to the other 22 locations throughout Metro Atlanta and so forth.”

Keep an eye on our Website, Facebook and Twitter feeds for updates on the garden. Thank you to :
